The 1st Prize winner at the International Vocal Competition Benson and Hedges Gold Award in London (1984) and the 2nd Prize at the International Vocal Contest in Rio de Janeiro (1985). A graduate of the Vocal Department at the Poznań Academy of Music. A Poznań Grand Opera Theatre soloist for fifteen seasons.
Her repertoire embraces in excess of 30 opera parts. She performed in a number of theatres in Europe and America. She sang at the Covent Garden in London, Staatsoper in Vienna, Teatro Colon in Buenos Aires, Teatro alla Scala in Milan, Teatro La Fenice in Venice, Deutsche Operin in Berlin, Bayerische Staatsoper in Münich, Staatsoper in Hamburg, Chatelet in Paris, Grand Théatre in Geneva, Théatre Royal de la Monnaie in Brussels, Teatro Comunale in Florence, Staatstheater in Stuttgart, Semper Oper in Dresden, Landestheater in Salzburg, Los Angeles Music Center in Los Angeles, Brooklyn Academy of Music in New York, Theatre Opera in Vichy, Théatre Municipal in Luxemburg, Oper der Stadt in Köln, Badisches Staatstheater in Karlsruhe, Opernhaus in Zürich, Oper Graz, diring Festspiele in Salzburg, Ravenna Festival, Festival de Musique in Strasbourg, Minneapolis, Atlanta.
Joanna Kozłowska also performed in cantatas and oratories.
On CDs (Ricercar), she recorded the part of Sandrina in Mozart’s The Pretend Garden-Girl (also on video), Górecki’s III Symphony with the Warsaw Philharmonic directed by Kazimierz Kord (Philips), Chopin’s songs, accompanied by Waldemar Malicki (CD Accord), Karłowicz’s, Rachmaninov’s, Glier’s, Verdi’s, and Poulenc’s songs, accompanied on the piano by Andrzej Tatarski (ISR), with Ewa Podleś songs for two voices composed by Mendelssohn, Brahms, Schumann, accompanied by Jerzy Marchwiński (ISR), selected religious songs composed by Stanisław Moniuszko, performed with Jadwiga Rappe, Andrzej Hiolski, and Piotr Kusiewicz (CD Accord), Verdi’s and Puccini’s arias with the Poznań Philharmonics directed by Grzegorz Nowak (CD Accord), and the part of Leonora in Verdi’s The Troubadour (SF).
She has collaborated with Riccardo Muti, Lorin Maazel, David Zinman, Nello Santi, Jeffrey Tate, Kazimierz Kord, Antoni Wit, Gabriel Chmura, and many international stars of the opera (Bartoli, Fleming, Raimondi, Zancanaro, Shicoff, Cura, Nucci, Bruson etc).

Gniezno is a beautiful city founded in the 10th century and was the first capital city of Poland. It is located near Poznan in the center of Wielkopolska region. You can travel from Poznan to Gniezno by train (50- 60 minutes). The lessons will take place in the Collegium Europaeum Gnesnense (5-7 Kostrzewskiego Str, Gniezno), between 9th and 14th September 2013. Each active participant will be eligible for four 60-minutes lessons (pianist provided). Passive participants will be able to participate in all classes. Best students will be given an opportunity to perform during the festival concert.
Active students will be qualified according to the Participants’ Application Cards and an audition which will take place on the first day of the Masterclass. The remaining students will be offered a passive status. Participants’ Application Cards along with the payment confirmation of 100 EUR of deposit should be sent by 15th July 2013 (date of the postal stamp) to:

The total cost of the Masterclass for foreign active participants is 650 EUR. The price includes 100 EUR of deposit. The deposit is non-returnable in the event of resignation! The price includes lessons and accommodation in double or triple rooms as well as breakfast, lunch and supper (September 8th – 13rd 2013, 14th – only breakfast) in Collegium Europaeum Gnesnense (5-7, Kostrzewskiego Str, Gniezno). The total cost of the Masterclass for foreign passive participants is 300 EUR. The price includes 100 EUR of deposit. The deposit is non-returnable in the event of resignation! The price includes participation in all lessons and accommodation in double or triple rooms and breakfast (September 8th–13rd 2013, 14th – only breakfast) at Adalbertus Hotel (7a, Tumska Str, Gniezno).
All participants, both active and passive, will have free entrance to chosen concerts and festival events of the 3rd Chamber Music Festival ‘Spaces of Music’ taking place between 7th–13th September 2013.
